The latest beer from Utuado based REBL Brewery is PR-10, An Oat Cream IPA.
This is a style of IPA that is brewed with large amounts of oats, a touch lactose and conservative levels of bitterness where the hops are emphasized.
REBL’s interpretation results in a “Hazy beer that alludes to the monumental and imposing character that we appreciate in the mountainous and sometimes misty (hazy) landscape on the PR-10 panoramic route that leads to our beautiful town of Utuado.”
On the palate the Oats along with the Maris Otter and Wheat Malts result in a delicious and exquisite flavor combination and along with its 7% ABV, it presents you with a monumental and imposing character while still being well drinkable. It finishes with a subtle but balanced juicy bitterness.
Like previous IPA’s that REBL have produced, they once again have experimented with the peel of different Puerto Rican Citrus Fruits to replace the Hops in the brewing process. FOR PR-10 they have used Tangerine Peel to complement the flavor and aroma hops Azzaca, Elixir and Idaho Gem and so give PR-10 a touch of flavor and aroma of the Utuado mountains.
PR-10 Oat Cream IPA will be available at select craft beer spots around the island.
