Cervecería del Callejón just announced two new beers that they have brewed in a collaboration with Bohemia Cocina En Movimiento: Calé Belgian Style Amber and Calé Belgian Style Golden Strong.
Pilot batches of both beers were created at Cervecería del Callejón brewery in Old San Juan as draft only with the final versions brewed and bottled at FOK Brewing Co. in Caugas in order to produce a larger quantity.
Calé Belgian Style Amber used a Belgian Ale Yeast for its pilot version brewed at Cervecería del Callejón and for the scaled up version at FOK they have used a European Ale Yeast for a “cleaner” Yeast Profile. They say it has “a slight aroma of malted barley, followed by notes of caramel and toast on the palate. The beer has a light body and a dry finish.” It comes in with an ABV of 5.7%
For Calé Belgian Style Golden Strong, Cervecería del Callejón says that the FOK Brewing Co produced beer is exactly the same as the pilot version brewed in Old San Juan. They say that the “Golden Strong presents the characteristic fruit aroma of the style that is amplified by the addition of post-fermentation hops (dry hop). Banana flavor imparted by the yeast used and complemented by flavors of pineapple and tropical citrus from the hops. The beer is light in body, with a dry finish that is balanced by the slight sweetness perceived by the high alcohol content of 8.5% ABV.”
Both beers are available now at:
