Traquair House Ale All The Way From Scotland

The folks at Ballester Hermanos Inc, aka Craft Beer Puerto Rico have brought a popular Scottish beer Traquair House Ale to Puerto Rico for the very first time (at least I believe this is the first time).

Traquair House Ale is a traditional Scotch Ale from Traquair House Brewery in Traquair, Innerleithen, Scotland.

The original Traquair House Brewery dates back to the 1700’s when it was a domestic brewery for the house and its estate until the early 1800’s. In the mid 1960’s the brewery was rediscovered by then owner Peter Maxwell Stuart who restored the brewery along with the original equipment. He produced his first beer in 1965 which went on to become Traquair House Ale.

Traquair House Ale has an ABV of 7.2% and is described as being “deepish reddish in color, wiith a full velvet like medium body that is dry and powerful. Malt Flavors and a fruity finish show a subtle hint of fermentation from the wooden barrels”.

Thanks to Jose A. Mari Mut for the heads up on this one
