If you were at last weekends San Sebastian Street Festival in Old san Juan, then you may have had chance to try Cerveceria Del Callejón latest beer; Cabezudo Strong Ale.
Cabezudo Strong Ale is part of a two series beer with Rincon Beer Company, with both beers using the same grain bill. Both beers will use a base of Pilsner Malts, Red X malt, Cara Munich 60, Special Roast, Chocolate Malt and Brown Cane Sugar.
Callejón’s Cabezudo Strong Ale is an American Style Strong Ale that is brewed with Simcoe Hopes and fermented with Lutra Kveik Yeast, then dry hopped. There are notes of Tropical Fruits (Tamarind), Molasses with a slight alcohol warmth and a medium body. Cabezudo Strong Ale comes in with an ABV of 8%.
Rincon Beer Compmany’s version will be a Belgian Style Dubble utilizing the same base with the addition of Saaz Hops and T58 Belgium Abbey Yeast. This one will be available in around 4 weeks.
